Sports & me

I grew up beeing an active person, very attached to sports.
I enjoy experimenting new sports and new activities.
I took swimming classes at YMCA Avenue du Parc. I finished 5 complete grades and then stoped because we moved out. The timing was sadly not good for me to go in competition.
My parents always had care for my physical activities. In grade 5, I played basketball for the whole year. I really love that sport, but I got disconected and stopped to watch and play it. Obviously hockey took all the place. It's hard to leave that beautiful sport when you grow up watching it since your 1st days on this earth with your grampa.

When high school started, I really began to like volleyball. I also enjoyed to be scorekeeper for volleyball games. Earns me money and I can watch a sport that I like.

College has started and I played in the guys ball hockey league. I was the only girl and I liked it since I like to play at their level. And for around 6 months now, every thursday I go play volleyball for 2 hours at the college.
Oh man sometimes I am questionning myself, what the hell would I do without sports? Probably die.

  Hockey

Since when? My grampa began to watch hockey the first day he came in Montreal in the 70's.
For more than 25 years, he has been a Die hard supporter. He always lived with me and was my babysitter so I was raised in front of my tv, watching every single hockey game with him. Never missed one "La soirée du hockey du samedi soir" on Radio-Canada. My grampa would miss anything just for a habs game.

Hockey's a real passion for me. One of my dreams would be to work full time for the Montreal Canadiens organization; Coach or anything related to sports. Yeah as long it is related to sports, I'd be happy. For the Habs would be a bonus.

I don't only love to watch hockey, I love to play the game. I am not scared to have a lot of bruises spread a little bit everywhere possible. My goal is to get the puck/ball and have the control of it. Block shots, hit, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
I play as a forward and I shoot right. I like to play with boys because I play like one, I hit and I love it. Play physical. That's hockey.

  Why the Montreal Canadiens

Easy question! If My grampa raised me as a Leaf fan, I'd be one. But he raised me as a die hard Habs fan.
I am so proud to be a Montreal Canadiens supporter, a rich and popular organization known all over the world. I can't wait in 2009 for their centenial. When I was young I really loved Saku Koivu, like a lot of little kids today. (Sergei Fedorov & Pavel Bure too) But when Alexei Kovalev came in town, he took the place of Saku because I prefered Alex's talent over Saku's.

  My favorite player, Alex Kovalev.

>We all have favorite players all over the NHL. Well when I was young, Lemieux, Yzerman, Gretzky, Bure and such players were obviously my favorites. But I had an eye on Kovalev, Fedorov and Kozlov.

Kovalev played a lot against the Habs and was at the All-star games and that's how I discovered that talented hockey player. My appreciation for him wasn't because of his overall hockey abilities, because I would lie to you. I haven't see at that time every game he played. But he caught my attention for his magical dekes. One word, Awesome. that's what I call art. And don't freaking try to break my bubble because I know what art is.

I began to like Alex Kovalev in 2000, exactly, when he was playing with the Penguins, the best year of his career, playing with Straka and Lang. His stats and performances really sticked me to follow his career and that's how everything began.
But I like him mostly because he is a player a bit similar to Sergei Fedorov, that grew up liking him SO BADLY.

I could only see Alex on highlights, when he was playing against the Habs and at the All-star games, like I stated previously. I really "falled in love" with that magical player with a lot of skills. I'll never forget his dekes; his moonwalk ;-) ... I am, for sure, not the only one among boys and girls that started to appreciate him from that time and that's why, us, are still supporting him.

March 2004, the day of the trade deadline, a friend of mine told me on Msn that Kovalev was traded to Montreal for Balej and a draft pick. I went nuts! I was like "YOU'RE NOT SERIOUS?" I ran to the 1st floor like crazy, opened 3 tv's and went to thousands of website to know more about the trade. I thought I'd die because for 3 or 5 times; I was so close to fall in the stairs. Since that day, Alex Kovalev is definitely my favorite player. Such a skilled hockey player with great hands. His stickhandling is magical.

Those sweet saying beeing said, beeing a fan of his doesn't avoid me to criticize him. I am pretty realist and hate people that defend their players even when they're doing really bad. So it's ditto for me, when he doesn't play well, I say what I really think. But what really pisses me off, is that some people never followed his career and start bashing him about his personality and such things. Do whatever you want, it will just make us, Kovalev fans, laugh when you guys are bowing at him. Kovalev lazy? yeah he does take night offs; but give me a break, not everygame. Not a leader? A bad player off the ice? WELL DUH he is how he is and what can you know anyways? Oh you met him and he didn't sign you an autograph? Oh hey or things you heard from people? He shouldn't wear the "A"? Give me a break, you go into his body and then you'll tell me about his personality wich none among us fans know so why don't we shut up? As for the "A" ... go to Russia and ask Pavel Bure why the heck he is the Captain of Team Russia then! Or even better, go ask Mario Lemieux or Jagr why he also had that "A" in Pittsburgh.

He moves so perfectly that the way he plays, it makes everything seem so easy and perfect, showing an illusion of floating. I personally think Alex is smoother than Federov, as for Bure I don't think I've seen enough to judge. If you don't agree, let me ask you a question, have you ever play ice hockey with the talent he has? no, neither I, so who are we anyways to criticize that negativly? I am not thinking this way only to Kovalev, but to every player in the NHL. Don't judge if you don't know.

Anyways, you can visit the website I made about him. www.kovalev27.com
